Join us for Women’s Caucus: SATURDAY LUNCH
The SASS Women’s Caucus is a gender-inclusive network for women and allies in the Scandinavian Studies community.
In recent years, a common topic of discussion at the Women’s Caucus luncheon has been whether or not the group need continue at all. Considering the current political climate in the US, and the veritable attack on women’s rights and higher education the answer to this question seems to be a resounding, “YES, we need a Women’s Caucus!” This year’s luncheon will not have a speaker. Instead we’ll have an open meeting to discuss concrete ways in which we as a community can support each other and intervene.
Please bring your ideas for initiatives for the group. There are also practical issues to discuss, shall we elect a board? establish bylaws? write a mission statement? establish a protocol for donations/dues? develop a mentorship program? or a list-serv to share resources and experiences?
We would especially like to reach out to graduate students and precariously employed members of SASS who might benefit from community support and meeting established professors in the field.
Please also spread the word that even if you haven’t RSVP’d for this lunch via the SASS registration page you are still very welcome to attend. The lunch is not catered. Lunch items will be available for purchase ala carte in the Great Lakes Promenade area of the hotel.
Everyone is welcome!
