Membership in the Society for the Advancement of Scandinavian Study is open to all parties with a scholarly interest in the nordic region. Membership in the society is (typically) negotiated on a calendar-year basis, and its benefits include: four issues of Scandinavian Studies, the journal of the Society for the Advancement of Scandinavian Study; SASS News & Notes, the society newsletter (usually published three times per year); the opportunity to participate in the annual SASS conference; and other benefits.

Membership cost is divided into several categories (price in US dollars): Regular Member ($55 for residents of U.S. or Canada, $70 for residents of other countries), Student Member ($30, $45), Retired Member ($30, $45), Patron Member ($70, $85), or Life Member ($750, $900).

An online registration form allowing individuals to join the society (and subscribe to Scandinavian Studies) is currently being developed. Until it becomes available, people wishing to join the society have a few options:

Download a membership form (Adobe PDF format), fill in the requested information (this can be done within Adobe Acrobat Reader), save the file, and send it via e-mail to sass@byu.edu.

Or, Download the membership form (PDF), fill in the requested information, print the file, and mail it to: SASS Membership, HRCB, Brigham Young University, Provo, UT 84602-6118, USA. You should use this method if you wish to pay by check.

If you wish more information about the benefits of membership or further information about joining the society, please direct your questions to sass@byu.edu. Also, if you wish to receive a form via the post, please contact the Scandinavian Studies office via e-mail or at (801) 422-5598.
