Norwegian-American author Siri Hustvedt has won international acclaim with her five novels and four essay collections. Born in Northfield, MN, Hustvedt received a BA from Northfield’s St. Olaf College, and a PhD in English literature from Columbia University. Next year’s SASS conference, entitled “Nordic Connections Old and New,” will be held in Minneapolis and include a field trip to St. Olaf College to visit the Norwegian American Historical Archives. This conference, therefore, presents a unique opportunity to reconsider Hustvedt and her work. The proposed panel will welcome proposals on any aspect of Hustvedt’s oeuvre, but special consideration will be given to those which approach her novels and essays from a Scandinavian perspective. If you are interested in presenting a paper on this panel or have any questions, please contact Troy Wellington Smith (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Kristina Leganger Iversen (email@example.com).
